1. Two roads diverged in a wood… The path shown here is fairly well and recently trodden. Imagine you went for a walk in these woods. What did you see, hear, and feel? Describe the atmosphere; is it hushed? Were there others on the path?
2. Is this city building a business or residence? Who lives or works here? What is the climate like in this city during the winter months? Describe one of the characters who lives or works in this building, as if you know him or her very well, and taking this person through a whole day during winter.
3. A winter snowstorm with strong winds is occurring in this picture. Imagine you are in this scene. Where are you standing? Are you inside or outside? Describe the weather, then create a story based upon this weather, including characters of your choice involved in a winter weather-related crisis.
4. Such resorts as this one do a great business during harsh winter weather, when northerners flee to warmer climes. Ski resorts also do a hopping business during winter months. Plan a brochure for both a winter resort and a tropical resort, giving persuasive reasons why your customers would enjoy each locale. Work in groups to take opposite resorts, present your arguments using visuals, and then take a class vote to see which group won the most clients.
