3. TIMELINE AND HISTORY

TIMELINE OF ANCIENT EGYPT:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/egyptians/timeline.shtml

We might make the mistake of thinking that all Ancient Egyptian civilization conformed to one uniform culture. Not so. From the Late Predynastic Period up through the Middle Kingdom, and on to the Greco-Roman Period ending around 395 A.D., find an excellent overview of the evolving landscape of Ancient Egyptian history with this timeline from the BBC.

THE HISTORY OF ANCIENT EGYPT:
http://www.ancient-egypt.org/history/index.html

Explore the history of Ancient Egypt, starting with an overview and timeline. Journey on to the Early Dynastic Period, taking a look at the evolution of writing. Proceed from there to the various different periods, examining the arts and crafts of each dynasty, and the reigns and emphases of the succession of pharaohs - great resource!

4. EVERYDAY LIFE IN ANCIENT EGYPT

DAILY LIFE IN ANCIENT EGYPT:
http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/prehistory/egypt/dailylife/dailylife.html

Wigs, hairpieces, eye makeup, oils, perfumes... these were all part of daily culture in Ancient Egypt. What about occupations? For instance, there was a demand for both glass and papyrus, and this demand required manpower and technology. And how were sanitation issues handled? What was used for farming tools? What was it like to grow up in these cultures? What games were played? Find an extensive resource of daily life in Ancient Egypt from the Minnesota State University. (Please note that outside links contained on these pages should be checked prior to allowing student access. You may wish to make printouts of the material should the current off-site links prove problematic at any time.)

FOOD AND DRINK:

What can we gather about Ancient Egyptian food? Figs, cucumbers, geese... and wine, beer, and water were standard fare in this ancient culture. Find out how we know these food items were associated with the Ancient Egyptians, and learn more about their diets here.

EGYPTIAN CLOTHING:
