NOVEMBER 5TH, 1906
It was on this day that the astronomer Fred Lawrence Whipple was born in Red Oak, Iowa. He proposed that comets were actually composed of frozen gases, which later came to be known as the "dirty snowball" hypothesis.

2. DAILY TEACHING PICK

PAPER WEAVING AND COMPLIMENTARY COLORS:

"Opposites attract" might be one way of putting it... Students will create paper strip weavings in this art exercise. Introduce the concept of complementary colors, analyzing why they go well together.
