1. ON THIS DAY . . .

November 12th, 1815
It was on this day that the American women's rights activist Elizabeth Stanton was born in Johnstown, New York. With others, she convened the first women's rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York, in 1848. She campaigned for rights for women throughout her career as a writer, journalist, and orator, and was President of the National Women Suffrage Association.
