http://www.lerc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/TRC/Aeronautics/FINGER_BOOMERANGS.html

It's fun, it's affordable, and it's not that hard to make! Try either a four-winged boomerang made out of manila file folders at the first link above, or some equally cool finger boomerangs at the 2nd link above.
Then have some races to see which ones fly the farthest, the highest, the longest time, etc. Have fun decorating your boomerangs too - in fact, why not hold a boomerang or Aussie-themed party!

2.) ::: Why not play . . .

SUDOKU!

All right; I admit it - I'm hooked! Try the daily puzzle or click to play even more with the random puzzles offered. New to Sudoku? Click on the instructions first and don't be intimidated - it's not hard! Frustrating? Well, maybe... See what high scores you and your kids can get.

3.) ::: Why not try . . .

THESE SKILLS BUILDERS!

THE GEO-BEE CHALLENGE:

Where in the world... ??? Ahhh, that's the question of the day, with this interactive learning game to maintain - or even introduce - geography skills for your 4th-9th grade children. See how well you do against each other! A new quiz is available each day, from National Geographic.

4.) ::: Why not read . . .

THE GRAND CANYON!

Around four million people visit this national treasure every year. Is in your own summer vacation plans? Find out how much you know about the Grand Canyon in this online geography trivia game from National Geographic. You can learn more about the Grand Canyon by taking a virtual tour, at the 2nd link above, and then venture out onto the glass skywalk over the canyon itself at the 3rd link above - without having to experience any of the fear! If you're planning on a family visit to the Grand Canyon this summer, try the travel and planning tips at the last link above.

GRAND CANYON WEBCAMS & FLY OVER:

http://www.nps.gov/grca/naturescience/200710mtlionkit.htm
http://www.nps.gov/grca/photosmultimedia/flight_into_wmv.htm

Sneak a peak into the Grand Canyon through a virtual visit, with these two online and real time webcams, complete with weather data. Note what the ozone level is daily, the current temperature, or wind strength. Click on "landmarks" to see the different plateaus and ridges, buttes and lookout points, or visit the 2nd link above to learn about mountain lion kittens and watch a video of them in the park. Even better - take a virtual flight over the canyon at the 3rd URL above.
